SMS Terms of Use
Last updated: July 19, 2026
EventRight helps organizers send event invitations and updates by text message. This page explains how our SMS program works, who is responsible for consent, and how recipients can opt out. These terms apply to messages sent through EventRight's messaging program.
Who sends the messages
Text messages are sent by EventRight on behalf of event organizers. Messages are limited to event-related content — such as invitations, RSVP links, reminders, and updates about an event the recipient was invited to. We do not send unrelated marketing on behalf of third-party advertisers.
Organizer consent responsibilities
Before entering a phone number into EventRight or sending a text to a guest, organizers must have that person's permission to contact them about the specific event.
This means organizers agree to:
- Obtain consent that complies with applicable law, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and state telemarketing and privacy laws
- Upload or message only guests who expect to receive an invitation or event update from that organizer
- Not use EventRight to send unsolicited messages, purchased lists, or contacts unrelated to a legitimate event
- Keep guest lists accurate and honor opt-out requests promptly
By using SMS features, organizers confirm they have obtained proper consent. EventRight may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these requirements.
How consent is obtained
- Organizer-provided numbers: consent must be obtained before an organizer adds a phone number to a guest list or sends an SMS blast. Verbal permission, a prior relationship, or an existing expectation of event communication may satisfy consent depending on the circumstances and applicable law — organizers are responsible for making that determination.
- Event-related purpose only: numbers collected through EventRight are used for RSVP and event communication tied to that organizer's event, not for unrelated campaigns.
- RSVP identification: when a guest provides a phone number on a public RSVP page, that number is used to match them to the guest list and for event-related communication about that RSVP.
- Organizer account acknowledgment: organizers must confirm SMS consent obligations when creating events and before sending messages through the platform.
Message frequency & content
Message frequency varies by event. A typical guest may receive an initial invitation plus a small number of follow-up reminders or updates from the organizer, within the limits of the organizer's plan. Message and data rates may apply depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan.
EventRight does not permit phishing, financial solicitation, password requests, or unrelated promotional spam. Suspicious content may be blocked, flagged for review, or reported as required by law.
How to opt out (STOP)
You can opt out of EventRight text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us.
We also honor standard opt-out keywords, including UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT.
After you opt out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message. We will not send further SMS from EventRight to that number, even if an organizer updates their guest list or sends a new blast.
How to opt back in (START)
If you previously opted out and would like to receive event texts again, reply START, UNSTOP, or RESUME to our number. You will receive a confirmation when messaging is restored. Opting back in applies to future EventRight messages; organizers must still have permission to contact you about their event.
